Supported Employment FAQ’s | What is Supported Employment?
With over 50 years of experience in disability care and employment, HELP offers experienced support to people with disability. We know that employment is more than just a job – it’s about having a sense of purpose and loving what you do.
Achievements like learning to travel independently, establishing and maintaining positive work-based relationships, being part of a team, following directions in a professional way, and feeling like a valued member of a team, are all elements of working life that can be easily taken for granted.

Supported employment provides paid and meaningful work opportunities for people with disability so that you can experience working life and everything that comes with it!
At HELP, we offer many jobs for people with disability and have Employment Support Officers that work alongside you to provide any additional support you might need.
Supported Employment can help you:
- Learn new skills (for work and life)
- Build confidence and self-esteem
- Become more independent
- Earn your own money
- Establish and maintain positive work-based relationships
- Work together as a team
- Explore new industries and areas of interest
- Meet new people and make lifelong friends
- Upskill for open employment.
A WORKPLACE DESIGNED JUST FOR YOU
We understand that everyone’s situation is different and work with you to find a job that suits your individual needs. We support a range of disabilities, however, the majority of our supported employees are on the autism spectrum, have an intellectual disability, or Down Syndrome.
A RANGE OF JOBS TO SUIT YOUR INTERESTS
We have jobs available in manufacturing and production, supply chain services, horticulture, administration, and hospitality so you can try a bit of each to see what job you like best. We also support a number of small teams embedded in larger organisations.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS 
There are certain requirements you need to meet to be able to take part in our Supported Employment program.
Are you:
- Over 18 years old;
- Have an NDIS plan; and
- Willing and able to work at least 8 hours per week?
